Experienced Organizers Helping You Prepare for an Estate Sale

Preparing for an estate sale often starts with sorting through everything in the home and deciding what to keep, sell, donate, discard, pack, or move.
Professional Organizer New Orleans helps individuals and families with the decluttering, organizing, and packing they may need before or after an estate sale.
We are not an estate sale company and do not conduct or manage estate sales. Instead, our team helps with the decluttering, organizing, and packing that may need to happen before or after the sale.
Decluttering Before an Estate Sale

One of the biggest parts of preparing for an estate sale is going through everything in the home.
Our decluttering services can help you sort through belongings and decide what you’d like to keep, sell, donate, discard, pack, or move.
If you’re helping an older loved one through this process, our senior decluttering services can help, too.
We’ll work alongside you to sort belongings into clearly designated areas, including items for the estate sale, belongings your family wants to keep, donations, and anything that still needs a decision.
Organizing and Consolidating Estate Sale Items

We can organize and consolidate items intended for the estate sale into designated rooms or areas of the home.
This may include grouping similar items together, separating belongings the family plans to keep, and creating designated areas for donations, trash, or items that may need to be appraised.
We can also straighten and organize these spaces so they’re easier for the estate sale company to review.
We do not appraise belongings, determine their value, price or advertise items, or manage the estate sale itself. Those services should be handled by an estate sale company or qualified appraiser.
Packing Items That Will Not Be Sold

Not everything in the home will be part of the estate sale. Some belongings may be moving with the homeowner, going to family members, or being placed in storage.
We can help pack clothing, linens, kitchenware, decorations, personal belongings, keepsakes, and other items that will not be sold. We can also label and separate boxes based on where everything is going.
Downsizing Before an Estate Sale

If you’re downsizing or helping a senior downsize before an estate sale, we can help you go through belongings and decide what to keep, sell, donate, or give to family.
We can also help pack what you’re keeping and, if needed, unpack and organize the new home.
Help After an Estate Sale

Even after an estate sale has ended, unsold items and remaining belongings often still need to be handled. Our team can return after the sale to help sort and organize what remains.
Post-estate-sale services may include:
- Separating unsold items for donation
- Packing belongings that family members would like to keep
- Organizing items going into storage
- Consolidating remaining trash or recycling
- Packing items that will be transported to another home
- Helping prepare the property to be emptied
Our organizers can remove donations that safely fit inside their personal vehicles and take them to local donation centers in New Orleans.

What Our Estate Sale Preparation Services Do Not Include
Professional Organizer New Orleans provides decluttering, organizing, packing, unpacking, and limited donation-removal services. To avoid any confusion, we are not an estate sale company, appraisal service, moving company, or junk-removal company.
We do not:
- Conduct, advertise, staff, or manage estate sales
- Price, appraise, or determine the value of belongings
- Sell or list items on behalf of clients
- Negotiate with buyers
- Move or transport large furniture
- Haul away mattresses, appliances, construction materials, or oversized junk
- Remove hazardous materials
- Provide full-property junk removal
If the property contains large furniture, oversized trash, or a significant volume of unwanted belongings, you will need to arrange for a moving or junk-removal company.
We can still help organize and separate those items so the right company knows what to remove.
How Does Estate Sale Preparation Work?
1. Start with a phone consultation
We’ll start with a phone consultation, typically with Olivia Parks, to learn about your home, what you need help with, your timeline, and your budget.
We’ll discuss whether you need help decluttering, sorting and organizing for the sale, or packing belongings you plan to keep.
2. Send us photos of your home
Next, we’ll typically ask you to send photos of the home and the areas you’d like help with. This gives us a better idea of how much there is to go through and what kind of help you may need.
3. Choose the right session for your project
After looking at your photos and talking through the project with you, Olivia will recommend a session option and number of organizers based on how much help you want or need.
4. Schedule your estate sale preparation day
If everything sounds good, we’ll schedule your project day. Our professional organizers will come to your home and help with the decluttering, sorting, organizing, packing, or other estate sale preparation you hired us to handle.
A More Manageable Way to Prepare for an Estate Sale
Sorting through an entire home can feel overwhelming, especially when the process follows a major move, a family transition, or the loss of a loved one.
We provide the hands-on support you need to sort belongings, make decisions, prepare items for the estate sale, pack what you’ll keep, remove manageable donations, and address what remains after the sale.
Every project is different, so we begin by learning more about the home, your timeline, the amount of belongings involved, and the type of assistance your family needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you organize and run our estate sale?
No. We do not conduct, advertise, price, or manage estate sales. We help complete the decluttering, organizing, and packing work that may be needed before an estate sale company begins its work.
Can you help decide what should be sold at the estate sale?
Yes. We can help you sort your belongings and create a designated category for items you may want to sell. However, we cannot determine an item’s value or advise you on how much it should sell for. Valuable, antique, or collectible items should be evaluated by a qualified appraiser or estate sale professional.
How much do estate sale preparation services cost?
Estate sale preparation services start around $795, with most of our clients spending between $795 and $3,000–$4,000. Your project cost depends on how much help you want or need. Some clients only need help with one part of the process, while others want us to help sort through and prepare the entire home for the estate sale.
