Packing Services Tailored to Your Move
Every move is different, so we offer packing services that fit your schedule, household size, and transportation plans.
Whether you need your entire home packed or just a few rooms, we’ll clearly outline the labor, packing supplies, materials, labeling, and spaces included.

Full-Home Packing
Our team carefully packs the agreed-upon rooms using quality moving boxes, packing paper, padding, and other protective materials.
Before we begin, we’ll provide a written scope so you know exactly which rooms, closets, cabinets, and belongings will be packed before moving day.
When we’re finished, your boxes will be labeled and ready for your moving company, residential moving crew, or your own transportation.
Since packing and transportation are separate services, we’ll confirm who’s responsible for moving your packed belongings before packing day.
Partial Packing
Partial packing is a great option if you only need help with certain areas of your home.
Many homeowners ask us to pack kitchens, books, closets, décor, home offices, or other time-consuming spaces while they take care of the easier rooms themselves.
Fragile and Specialty Item Packing
We use protective wrap and the right boxes to safely pack glassware, dishes, framed art, lamps, small electronics, and other delicate or sentimental belongings.
If you have oversized, especially valuable, or unusually fragile items, we’ll discuss the best packing approach beforehand since standard packing materials aren’t always the right fit.
Why Homeowners Choose Our Packing Team
Personalized Scope: Before packing day, we’ll talk through your home, move date, priority rooms, and how much help you need so everyone knows what to expect.
Careful Materials and Techniques: We use the right boxes, paper, protective wrap, and furniture padding to help keep your belongings safe throughout the packing process.
Clear Box Labeling: Every box includes box labeling that identifies the destination room and general contents, making it easier for movers to unload and for you to find what you need after the move.
Practical Communication: Before we get started, we’ll identify no-pack areas, personal valuables, sentimental items, and anything you’ll be taking with you on moving day.
Flexible Support: Packing can be coordinated with move management services, downsizing services, senior downsizing services, and household organizing services.

What the Packing Process Looks Like
Every move is different, but having a clear process helps everyone know what to expect.
Before we begin, we’ll go over the details, answer your questions, and make sure everyone is on the same page.
If you’d like to see the entire process in action, check out our guide to a client’s home from start to finish.
1. Consultation and Scope
Your project starts with a consultation with Olivia Parks, owner of Professional Organizer New Orleans. She’ll talk through your home’s size, your move date, the rooms you need packed, any fragile belongings, and any access limitations.
She’ll also help determine whether full-service packing or a more targeted approach is the best fit for your move.
Your packing estimate will clearly explain what’s included, the materials we’ll use, the expected timeline, and any situations that could affect the final packing cost.
2. Preparation Before Packing Day
Before Packing Day, set aside essential items you’ll need and don’t want packed: passports, cash, jewelry, prescription medications, important documents, chargers, keys, and anything else you’ll need immediate access to.
If you have especially fragile items, high-value belongings, or anything that shouldn’t be packed, let us know before we begin so we can plan accordingly.
That way, you’ll have easy access to the items you need most instead of searching through packed boxes after the move.
3. Arrival and Packing Day
When we arrive on packing day, we’ll review the plan, confirm any last-minute details, and get started packing the agreed-upon areas of your home. Typically, our packing projects start between 9 am and 10 am.
We recommend that someone be available at the beginning of the project and reachable by phone in case any questions come up.
If you’ve made arrangements for us to access your home without you there, we’ll simply follow the plan we discussed beforehand.
4. Labeling and Final Walkthrough
As we pack, we use room labels, general content descriptions, and fragile markings to help make unpacking easier.
During the final walkthrough, we’ll review the completed areas with you (or your designated contact) if you are home, point out anything that wasn’t packed, answer any final questions, and go over the next steps before we leave.

Items Professional Packers Typically Will Not Pack
Every packing company has its own policies, and restrictions can vary depending on the mover, insurance requirements, destination, and delivery transportation method.
If you’re unsure about a specific item, ask during your consultation so you know exactly what we’ll pack and what should stay with you.
What Professional Packers Typically Won’t Pack
Most packing companies will ask you to keep cash, financial records, identity documents, prescription medications, jewelry, firearms, personal valuables, perishables, live plants, and pets with you during your move.
Household chemicals, propane cylinders, aerosol products, fuel, flammable liquids, and other hazardous materials are also commonly restricted by moving companies and carriers.
Additional Packing Limitations
We also have a few company-specific limitations:
- We do not disassemble or reassemble furniture.
- We do not pack oversized items such as large mirrors, oversized artwork, televisions, computer monitors, or other large electronics.
- We do not provide specialty moving protection for furniture, mattresses, or televisions, such as TV boxes, mattress bags, or furniture pads. Your moving company typically provides these materials.
Serving New Orleans, Metairie, & Nearby Areas
Every move is different, and older New Orleans homes often come with unique challenges like steep staircases, narrow doorways, limited parking, and smaller rooms.
Hot weather, humidity, and busy moving seasons can also affect scheduling, so it’s always a good idea to book your packing service in advance.
We provide packing services throughout New Orleans, Metairie, Kenner, the Westbank, the Northshore, and surrounding Greater New Orleans areas.
We’ll confirm service availability based on your address before scheduling your project.
If you’re looking for help before or after your move, Professional Organizer New Orleans also offers home organizing, unpacking, and other household support.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Much Do Professional Packing Services in New Orleans Cost?
The cost of packing services depends on the size of your home, how much needs to be packed, the materials required, fragile belongings, and whether you need full-home or partial packing.
The best way to get an accurate estimate is through a consultation, where we can evaluate the areas you want help packing and provide pricing based on the actual scope of work and your budget.
Our packing services start around $795 for smaller projects.
Most of our clients invest between $795 and $4,000, depending on how much of their home they need packed.
If you’re looking for help packing an entire house, those projects typically start around $5,000 and increase based on the size of the home, the number of belongings, and the amount of packing involved.
Packing is an investment, but it also saves hours of physical work, decision-making, and moving-related stress. Whether you need help packing a single room or your entire home, we’ll recommend a plan that fits your move and your budget.
What’s Included When I Hire Professional Packers?
Most professional packing services include carefully wrapping your belongings, packing each room, labeling boxes, and preparing everything for your move.
Packing supplies, such as boxes, packing paper, tape, wardrobe boxes, and other materials, are typically an additional cost.
If you don’t already have the supplies you need, we can recommend them or provide them as part of your project.
How Should I Choose a Professional Packing Service?
Look for a company with insurance, local experience, trained professionals, clear communication, and a straightforward estimate.
Ask how they handle fragile items, what’s included in the service, and who is responsible for transportation so there are no surprises on moving day.
Do I Need to Be Home While the Packers Work?
It’s helpful if you’re home when we first arrive so we can review the plan, answer any last-minute questions, and confirm any no-pack areas.
If you want help deciding what to keep, donate, or throw away before packing begins, we can also provide decluttering services before your packing project.
We discuss this during your consultation so everyone knows what to expect before your project day.
Once the packing is underway, many clients choose to leave and go about their day.
As long as we have clear instructions and can reach you by phone if questions come up, you don’t usually need to stay for the entire packing session.
Can Packing and Unpacking Be Booked Together?
Yes. Many clients book both packing and unpacking services as part of the same move.
We’ll coordinate the schedule ahead of time and discuss things like access to your new home, where you’d like items put away, and whether you’d like us to remove packing materials after everything has been unpacked.
This feels much more like advice from an experienced organizer than a generic moving company, and it naturally explains why someone may need to be home for decluttering but not necessarily for the packing itself.
Ready for a More Manageable Move?
Moving is a lot of work, but you don’t have to do it all yourself.
Our packing services help take one of the biggest tasks off your plate, from planning and packing to the final walkthrough.
Whether you’re a busy family preparing for a move, a senior downsizing, or a professional athlete or coach relocating for your career, our team can provide the hands-on help you need throughout the process.
If you’re getting ready for an upcoming move, reach out to schedule a consultation, and we’ll walk you through the process and how our packing and home organizing services work.
