Once you’ve found a professional organizing company in New Orleans you’d like to work with and have talked with them about your project and goals, the next step is putting a clear plan in place for how everything will get done. The company will typically guide the process from there, so you don’t have to figure everything out on your own, as that’s what we’re here for!
Step 1: Creating a Game Plan
Based on what you’re looking for help with, whether that’s decluttering, organizing, packing, or unpacking, the company will help create a plan that makes sense for your space, goals, and budget.
At Professional Organizer New Orleans, we offer various session options based on the size of the project and the level of help a client seeks.
From there, we’ll make recommendations based on the space, the number of items, and what the client is hoping to accomplish.
In most cases, clients will speak directly with Olivia Parks, owner of Professional Organizer New Orleans, about the best approach for their project.

During a phone consultation, for example, if a client is looking for help organizing a closet, we’ll talk through the space, review photos of the project, and recommend how many organizers and sessions may be needed.
Most of our clients choose to follow our recommendations because we try to balance staying within their budget while also helping them make as much progress as possible during their sessions. Every project is different, and there’s always flexibility depending on what feels most comfortable for you.
For example, if a client’s goal is to complete a larger project but multiple sessions are outside their current budget, they can start with a smaller session and break the project into smaller parts over time. Other clients prefer to schedule multiple sessions upfront so they can tackle everything at once and complete the project faster.
Step 2: Setting Expectations Before the Session
During your phone consultation, once we’ve seen photos of the space and talked through your goals, we’ll give you a better idea of what we expect to accomplish during your session. Most of our sessions last about 5 hours, during which we focus on helping clients make as much progress as possible.
Every project is different, so progress can look different from one home to another. Factors like the size of the space, the amount of clutter or disorganization, storage limitations, and the type of help you need all play a role in what can realistically be completed during a session.
In many New Orleans homes, especially older homes with smaller closets or limited storage, organizing projects often require a more customized approach. That’s why we focus on setting realistic expectations upfront and creating systems that work for your actual space and daily routine.
Step 3: Getting Started on the Project
Once project day arrives and the session begins, we get right to work. What we’re doing during that time depends on the type of project:
Decluttering:
We bring boxes and trash bags and work alongside you to go through your items, helping you decide what to keep, toss, or donate. We can also point you toward local New Orleans donation options when it makes sense.
Organizing:
We focus on setting up your space so everything has a place and functions well long-term, especially in homes where space needs to be used efficiently.
Packing:
We help gather packing materials and carefully pack up your home, which is especially helpful for clients moving within or into the New Orleans area.
Unpacking:
We unpack boxes, break everything down, and set your space up so it feels livable right away.
Do I Need To Be Home During The Session?
You can be home during the process, or you don’t have to be. We’ll work either way depending on what you’re comfortable with and what the project requires.
The only time we typically need our clients present is during decluttering sessions, when we work together to go through their items and decide what to keep, toss, or donate.
If you won’t be home, we’ll coordinate access in advance, whether that’s a key, entry code, or a family member letting us in, so we can get started smoothly.

What Organizing Looks Like in New Orleans Homes
Every New Orleans home is different. Because of that, the amount of storage, the number of items, and the level of disorganization can all vary, so we focus on making the most of your space and setting clear expectations for what progress will look like.
What Makes the Process Different
We work quickly and efficiently, but quality always comes first.
Our goal isn’t just to move quickly so you get the most out of our session time together. It’s to make sure everything is done in a way that actually works for you long-term.
Our team is also very friendly and non-judgmental. Most homes we walk into have very similar challenges, especially here in New Orleans, where space and layout can vary a lot, and we’re there to help make the process easier.
